Without a doubt, the absolute best quality hotel for spectacular beach frontage & seclusion on Koh Phi Phi. This hotel just makes you want to call your family & friends and laugh. Absolutely divine beach, with the sea so shallow, you can walk out 30 metres and still only be waist high in water. Exceptionally safe swimming waters with excellent snorkelling near the capes. It is possible to reach other areas of the island by foot, but it is a trek, quite literally, and 2 hours at that (if you are fit). The only other way of reaching this hotel is by longtail or speed boat from either of the island's two ferry harbour areas. If you make the mistake of booking into another quality hotel on Phi Phi and then visit Pee Pee Island Village, you are certain to want to cry (at the very least). This hotel's very atmosphere "dictates" that you slow yourself right down and just glow in self satisfaction. If you can tear yourself away from the beach, the Dive and Tour Centre is remarkably good (From here you can take their professionally guided tours, or arrange a longtail boat for 600 baht for 4 hours, 800 baht for 6/7 hours). The local islands, such as Bamboo Island with it's wonderful hard corals and fishing village (that's one of the islands you can see from the beach), the famous Phi Phi Leh with it's superb snorkelling / diving potential and "Viking Cave" (where locals use bamboo & vine scaffolds to reach swallow nests), are all within easy access.
One thing to remember though is this. That the building policy of this hotel, which ensures that the rooms are so well spaced apart, does mean there are very few rooms to satisfy the needs of so many devotees. So make that reservation soon!
Mark's Tips
During the wet season (May to Oct), go on boat trips in the mornings, as the weather more often changes in the afternoon. If you want to go to Ton Sai to see the town and take in a fresh sea restaurant, aim to get there for 5pm and eat at 6:30pm as most of the restaurants serve the days catch from 6pm onwards. Finally, a money saver. Always check with reception if there is a hotel boat or two going out that day (to transfer guests etc.) and if there is room for you (a nice smile should ensure a free trip).
