An absolutely fantastic retreat / Robinson Crusoe type hotel on a lonely, beautiful island, otherwise only inhabited by a few local fishing villagers. Although mobile phones do work here (in places) and the hotel has a generator, there are no mainland resources to pollute the shear natural beauty of this place. Unrivalled beaches, both for breathtaking beauty and tranquility. This is also one of the very few hotels in Thailand where you can take a day boat trip to the famed Koh Surin Island. Most other boats that serve this diving / snorkelling paradise are liveaboards, such is the remote nature of this area. Here you can spend days just as if time not only stood still, but move backwards by quite a few years. Despite this, the restaurant here is renowned for its excellent food, especially it's fresh seafood and wine list (of all things and of all places!). When you shower in the morning (a good tip is to let the sun heat the water tank first!), you will have private views of lush tropical grounds from your semi-open bathroom that will enthral you (these are especially nice bathrooms as well). If you want to go on holiday to relax in the most beautiful and natural of environments, without sacrificing the real comforts of life (extremely comfortable bed, great bathroom and superb food). Then, there are very few places on this planet that will match Golden Buddha.
